Perhaps something is stirring within you and you have felt drawn to learn more about Faith, about God, maybe even the Catholic Church. You may already be a person of faith in another Christian denomination or another faith tradition altogether, for instance, Judaism. You may also be someone who has never thought of themselves as a person of faith of any kind, but there is something drawing you in that direction. Sometimes, that can make a person confused or unsure of what to do next with all that.
A good first step could be to speak with someone at the Parish; you could make an appointment to speak confidentially with the Parish Priest. He can offer suggestions and guidance; something to read or answer the questions that may be in your mind.
Such a step of inquiry is without any commitment by you. Any journey into Faith is guided by the person’s response to their own reflection and discernment. We also believe God’s Holy Spirit is at work in a person searching in this way. The Parish is here to walk with you, not sign you up !
Following initial contact, and if you wish to proceed further, there is a more structured process of instruction and preparation, often known as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Here again, the process serves the person who is searching.
Whether or not you decide to go further, please keep in mind that the Community of Saint Kevin’s Parish often prays at Mass for those searching for God or those searching for a spiritual home. We want for everyone the same joy and peace we ourselves have found in knowing Jesus Christ and His Church. May the Lord Himself, the Good Shepherd, guide you in peace.
